About the Competition

GLOBALG.A.P. is one of the leading certification standards for Good Agricultural Practices worldwide. The GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance Standard covers the main scopes of agricultural production, namely crops, livestock and aquaculture. Today, more than 160,000 farms in over 119 countries are certified (Fruit & Vegetable scope only, does not include Livestock and Aquaculture) and these certified products can be found in major supermarkets around the world.

GLOBALG.A.P. invited young researchers to submit original and/or relevant research pieces on subjects related to Good Agricultural Practices for presentation in the form of a poster at the GLOBALG.A.P. SUMMIT 2016 in Amsterdam on 27-28 September.

The winner of the best poster was invited to give a presentation at the SUMMIT 2016 conference. GLOBALG.A.P. provided travel and accommodation expenses for the winner. The top 5 finalists were invited to attend SUMMIT 2016 free of charge. The posters were displayed during the conference and on the GLOBALG.A.P. website.


This years’ SUMMIT focussed on the following topics:

  • Aquaculture
  • Capacity Building
  • Climate change and climate-smart agriculture
  • Social aspects (e.g. workers’ health, welfare and safety)
  • Livestock: sustainable production systems and animal welfare

  • How to deal with Big Data

Selection Criteria and Important Information

The jury selected and reviewed submitted abstracts based on quality and relevance according to the subjects listed above. Researchers were invited to attend the SUMMIT in Amsterdam if chosen. GLOBALG.A.P. reserves the right to display posters at the SUMMIT and in future (website, proceedings, etc.). In the case a research piece has already been (partially) published, the author(s) need to state this during the application and they shall remain responsible for copyrights.

All poster abstracts and final posters must comply with the following guidelines:

  • Abstracts/Posters must be in English
  • The content of the poster must not be promotional or contain advertising
  • Poster display does not constitute registration to the SUMMIT
  • Posters submitted may be edited for promotional purposes (website, flyer, newsletter, social media)
  • Submitted posters and abstracts must be the author’s original work

All poster submissions, whether accepted or rejected, will be advised by 15 September 2016.
