Valeska graduated as in Food Engineering from the State University of Campinas in Brazil, and completed additional studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne, Germany in Technology in the Tropics, and the University of St. Andrews in the United Kingdom in Sustainable Aquaculture. With broad agro and food industry experience in Latin America, she also served as the deputy director for the UNIDO Cleaner Production Centre in Guatemala.
Valeska has fulfilled a range of duties at GLOBALG.A.P. since 2002. Her previous positions include Standard Management Coffee and Tea, and Standard Management Flowers and Ornamentals, as well as support on the combinable crops and fruit and vegetables revisions.
Her current role in the management of the GLOBALG.A.P. Aquaculture scope involves coordination of standard revision processes; capacity building material development, industry liaison with retailers, traders, buyers and producers; Chain of Custody–supply chain standard management and compound feed management linked to aquaculture certification; coordination of the Technical Committee working program; NGO liaison for the sustainability component on the requirements; revision of external benchmarking projects; and assuring transparency of standards implementation worldwide.
