Keynote at the Plenary Session BRINGING MORE GOVERNMENTS ON BOARD

Dr Stefan Hönig currently works in the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE) of the European Commission. He is the head of the “Food” unit in Directorate F, Health and Food, Audit and Analysis formerly known as the FVO. The main task of the Directorate is to evaluate official control systems through audits and related activities in EU Member States as well as in non-EU countries exporting to the EU and to contribute to their improvement.
Before he joined the Commission, Stefan worked in a ministry in one of the German states (Hessen) organising and coordinating official food controls. He is a vet by profession.
