Supply Chain Information Management

Founder and CEO

Panelist at the Plenary Session USING BIG DATA IN CERTIFICATION
Wednesday, 28 September, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Marjan de Bock-Smit is the founder and CEO of Supply Chain Information Management  (SIM), a company that works dedicated for clients and maps supply chains and collects, verifies and validates objective evidence send by their clients suppliers. The SIM team places the collected information in context with the supply chain risks, SIM clients wants to have managed: Food Safety, Social Compliance, Animal Welfare, Environmental risks etc.

Marjan worked her whole life in the compliance and risk management. She was active with the implementation of HACCP and Hygiene systems in all sectors of the Food Industry as the founder and CEO of Dutch consultancy agency Precon with 25 food technologists. She was also the founder and CEO of ISACert: an international operating CB (300 auditors) with a specialization on retail driven schemes like BRC, IFS and GlobalGap.

The clients of her current company SIM use GLOBALG.A.P. as an important tool to manage the Food Safety risks of their supplier base, so she understands GLOBALG.A.P. on a very pragmatic level.

Humans versus machines:
Big data will be the fundamental base for future analysis. But added value only comes when professionally cleared and screened by humans.
