Blue Moon Ltd. is an Egyptian private company that is created in the vision of integrating its abilities with other local and international organizations who have a shared vision to “Think Global and Act Local”. We intend to help improve local practice, ensure sustainability and empower producers to earn the trust of the international supply chain. (www.bluemoon-eg.com)

Since inception in 2008, Blue Moon has focused on providing capacity building programs for good agriculture and manufacturing practice, as well as good social and environmental practice. The management believes in synergies and is working with many stakeholders in an effort to foster good practice in Egypt.

In 2010, the Co-operative Food, UK initiated the “Egyptian Suppliers Ethical Trade Forum” to encourage collaboration, supplier ownership and leadership in addressing key ethical trade challenges in Egypt. The Forum is currently run by the Cooperative Food, UK, Marks and Spencer, Sainsbury’s and facilitated by Blue Moon.  The forum celebrated 5 years of collaborative work in 2015 and is looking forward to improve working conditions for Egyptian workers with a focus on casual labour and labour providers.

We also take pride in joining the UN Global Compact (UNGC) register of participants http://unglobalcompact.org/participant/17871 and being a founding member of UNGC Business for Peace.

In response to USAID Annual Program Statement in 2011, Blue Moon submitted a proposal that intended to enable Egyptian small growers comply with international standards in an effort to improve their socio-economic conditions through sustainable market opportunities – www.smallgrowers-eg.com.  The proposal was accepted and Blue Moon implemented the “Premium Project for Egyptian Small Growers” in Matrouh, Beheira and Luxor.

In view of the intensive need for a focused and integrated capacity building program for the “USAID-Funded Premium Project for Egyptian Small Growers. Blue Moon decided to assume the role of the “GLOBALG.A.P. Farm Assurer”, and a “Memorandum of Understanding” was also signed with “FAIRTRADE International”.

Due to our success story with the Premium Project, Blue Moon is sub-contracted by CNFA, USA to implement the same concept within the USAID-funded FAS program in Upper Egypt (2016-2020).
