Philippe Binard joined the fresh fruit and vegetables business in 1987. Since 2002, he is the General Delegate of Freshfel Europe, the European Association representing the interest of the fresh fruit and vegetables sector. Freshfel ( incorporates more than 200 members (associations and companies) across the fresh produce supply chain from production down to retail.


Philippe Binard is also since 2001 the Secretary General of WAPA (World Apple and Pear Association – which gathers 18 leading apple and pear production countries around the world from both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. He is also since 1996 the Secretary General of SHAFFE (Southern Hemisphere Association of Fresh Fruit Exporters – incorporating the eight leading Southern Hemisphere countries exporting fresh fruit to world markets.


During his career, Philippe Binard was also occupied other positions including the function of General Delegate of CIMO (European Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Importers Association) from 1992 to 2001. He was also the Secretary General of ECSLA (European Cold Storage and Logistics Association – from 1989 to 2002 as well as the Secretary General of ECBTA ( European Community Banana trade Association)  from 1993 to 2010.


Philippe BINARD (Belgian nationality, born in 1961) has a legal background from the University of Leuven (1984).
