International Sustainability and Carbon Certification System (ISCC)
Speaker at the Breakout Session 1C FOR A CLIMATE-RESILIENT FUTURE
Wednesday, 28 September, 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.
In 2010 Lydia Pforte joined the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification System (ISCC). She holds a degree in Geo-ecology (Environmental Sciences) from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Her interdisciplinary study was focused on coherences of carbon cycles in different ecosystems and impacts of anthropogenic intervention. Thus, she gained extended knowledge relating to geochemistry, geography, pedology, landscape ecology as well as global climatic change. Within ISCC she is responsible for the identification and evaluation of ecological and climate relevant parameters for different feedstocks and sectors. On the basis of these evaluation matrixes Ms. Pforte analyzes existing requirements within standards and identifies actions for further development of ISCC. She is also involved in projects on greenhouse gas balances and life cycle analyses in the agricultural production and processing of agricultural products and has worked intensively in identifying reduction potentials of different cultivation patterns.
